as of 3.38 this morning we have 3 lovely boys!
for those of you who want the gory details they are as follows:
woke up at 2.45 experiencing a really rather drawn-out and painful contraction. Needed the loo, so went off to the bathroom. Had 2 more contractions by the time I'd got back to the bedroom.
Decided it would be sensible to wake Bob and let him know the baby was on its way. contractions really coming quite regularly and VERY painful. Informed Bob to get the birth pool filled and to ring the midwives immediately, which he did.
Delivery suite said the midwives would be around 45mins.
I felt things were progressing rather fast and I was worrying about whether or not the pool would get filled in time as I really wanted to use it this time round. The pain was unbelievable. Not sure if it's because I didn't get a gradual build-up or if it just was really hurty but I was beginning to get beside myself with it and wondering if I could cope.
Felt strong urges to push, which Bob either noticed or just happened to ask at the right time "hmm, you don't feel like you need to push do you?" Me: "yes! a lot"
turns out that they'd warned him to call an ambulance if I got to that stage before the midwives arrived. So he goes off and calls 999 as the midwives were still a good 20 mins away at least.
Feel baby moving down and my waters go with a pop. I get Bob to check there is no meconium in them and ask if I can get in the pool or not to which he thankfully replies I can. at this point I check and can feel the baby's head!
somehow I manage to get into the pool between contractions- it was soooooo lovely. I was in a much better position. I have another contraction and feel the head start to crown. Bob is still on the phone to the ambulance operator and confusing them by telling them i'm in the water (they were not sure what to advise him at this point lol).
Head comes out with the next contraction and I decide to hell with this, I'm not waiting for another one I want this baby out, so start pushing again and out popped our lovely little boy! managed to grab an arm and pull him up and he had a lovely yell for a bit before settling down and enjoying a nice warm bath with me in the pool
a few mins later the ambulance crew turn up, a bit disappointed to have missed all the action. Then about 5-10 mins after that the midwives arrive!
So, all in all it was a bit of a shock! very quick, very intense, but worth it. He weighed in at a whopping 9lb 11oz!
He currently is name-less (but we're working on that)

Wow! Have been on hols and wondering whether number 3 had made an appearance. My bestest mate's b'day today, so yay for having him today. My mate is Jason, his nickname is Orville (if you want to add either to the list!). Huge congrats and well done Claire. xx

Hello Claire, hope the boobie cafe helped today. Let me know if I can offer any support. Although I don't help on IWMM I am a peer supporter and I have quite a bit of info if needed?

Glad the feeding is going better. Names are really difficult!
As baby boy is quite a big baby you need a pillow under him when feeding to lift him to your boob and also to help wrap him round you?
Let us all know the name soon xxxx

I am ridiculously excited to hear the name of the baby of someone I haven't even met! Hope you and Bob can agree soon, but make sure you are 100% sure, it's been such a faff to change William's middle name (still not actually done, work in progress). x
